Ask the HOA before you ask us
Most Triangle townhome communities have rules about moving hours, where a truck may park, and sometimes a requirement for a certificate of insurance from the mover. Ask the HOA or property manager for these in writing as soon as your date is set.
Send whatever they give you to us, and we will build the move around it rather than finding out on the day that trucks are not allowed on the street after five.
Visitor parking is often the real bottleneck
Guest parking in many Cary and Morrisville townhome communities is limited and shared, and a moving truck can take up several spots for hours. On busy weekends those spots fill early with other residents' guests.
If your community has a strict limit, ask about a temporary permit or a reserved spot near your unit for the day.
Stairs, storage units, and tight turns
Many townhomes have a narrow entry stairwell up to the main living level, and a storage or garage space that adds an extra stop for the crew. Mentioning both during the estimate lets us plan the crew size correctly.
If a large piece like a sectional sofa needs to make a tight turn on the stairs, tell us the dimensions ahead of time so we can decide whether it needs to come apart.
Settling in afterward
Once you are in, register with the HOA if you have not already, since some communities require it for pool access, gate codes, or mail key pickup, none of which is part of the move itself but all of which is easier to sort out in the first week.
Give wood furniture a little time to adjust if you moved during a humid stretch, since drawers and doors can feel slightly tighter for a week or two before they settle.
A short pre-move phone call to the HOA
A five-minute call to the community office before your date, confirming the truck route in, the guest spots you plan to use, and any hours restriction, prevents almost every townhome move problem we see.
Ask specifically whether the community requires advance written notice for a moving truck, since some do and the requirement is easy to miss if you only read the general HOA rules and not the move-specific ones.
